After a long wait, i finally was able to get the long awaited open comb base plates, which will be named as TR-3, machined. I hope it worths the wait. It has almost the same characteristics with the solid bar version except the aggressiveness which is a tad more aggressive. I paired that head with the reworked Kalyon handle which completes each other i believe. Hope OC lovers love them.
About the specs:
Handle: ~75g & 13.30 x 85mm
* The blade gap looks horrifying but don’t be terrified, it doesn’t feel like a lawn mower.
Due to some polishing problems i was able to get a very low quantity of that plate. Hope to get more later (probably sand blasted)
Along with the TR-3 i received a prototype of another head design (TR-4) which can be seen in my instagram page.
It is still in testing phase, there is no specific details yet about the head. All i can say is that it will be a little bit on the aggressive side.
I’m thinking to pair that head with a hexagon handle, Rail handle.
Current specs of the handle is:
Diameter: 12.30mm from side to side
Until the new head is out, i will pair these handles with some TR-2s.
Another thing that i wanted to share is the issues i had with polishing. No matter how much i tried, i couldn’t get the results i expect from the polishing shop. I can somehow understand that because as you may know all the parts are hand polished. It is a time consuming process and prone to have flaws. Unfortunately the polishing shops are very reluctant or hesitant to work on them since we expect much. They either reject or they ask high prices.
I guess i wont be able to provide polished items. I will move on sand blasted or tumbled. I think this will quicken things and cause less problems.
